Overnight retreats

From May through September, Metanoia Homestead is open for the following retreats. Please reach out to Lisa at lisa@metanoiavt.com to inquire about available dates.

Ignatian Retreats:

An Ignatian retreat is based on the 500-year old model of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius. In 2026, we offering week-long Ignatian retreats. These retreats are:

Solitary: Working with a spiritual director, each individual has an individualized program of prayer and meditation. While retreatants may share in common prayer, there are no presentations or other group activities.

Silent: Once the retreat begins, individuals remain in silence throughout the week. Meals are taken alone and silence is kept except for participation in any common prayer on the land.

Scripture-based: Retreatants are guided through meditations rooted in the Bible, typically in 4 or 5 hour-long meditations per day

Directed: Retreatants meet with a spiritual director for an hour each day of the retreat. This is a time to reflect on the meditation sessions, as well as any other guidance and spiritual support that is needed. Mark Kutolowski is the spiritual director for all Ignatian retreats.

Guests on Ignatian retreat at Metanoia are also welcome to participate in an hour or two of manual labor on the land each day. This is optional when work is available. Many guests find this a helpful and grounding aspect of their retreat days.

Lay Benedictine Life Retreats:

Guests join the Kutolowski family in a rhythm of work, prayer, and study on the land, in a lay, family-centered expression of the Benedictine way of life. The mid-day meal is taken together. Each day will include praying a simple Liturgy of the Hours outdoors (weather permitting), engaging in simple manual labor, and ample time for personal prayer, enjoying the land, and spiritual study.
