Theme: Sanctifying Time through the Liturgy of the Hours
On this silent retreat in Tunbridge, Vermont, we will learn about and communally practice the monastic liturgical hours and hold space for private contemplative practice in between the hours.
The hours will include readings from Brother David Steindl-Rast's Music of Silence, singing the Psalms, and communal silence. Silence will be kept for the entirety of the weekend.
The retreat will begin with Friday night dinner at 5:30pm. We will begin prayer with Friday Vespers at 7pm and conclude with Sunday None at 3pm. The seven hours of the day are Vigils (before dawn), Lauds (morning), Terce (mid-morning), Sext (noon), None (mid-afternoon), Vespers (evening) and Compline (bedtime).
Those who are able and interested are welcome to continue keeping the hours with us through lunchtime on Tuesday, February 7th.
This retreat is free of charge. Meals will be provided potluck style.
